How to Choose a Private Jet Charter Company- Part 2

Search for Excellent Customer Service: Ideally, there should be one person who is responsible for your trip. Also, live help should be available immediately in case you must alter your plans, create a special inquiry, or ask a question. It’s always a good idea to get references so that you get right information before you decide on a service.

Choose the Aircraft: Often, a private jet charter company will provide images of an aircraft that is going to be used for a trip. Be extra cautious that pictures sometimes could be deceiving and may not reflect the actual condition. The best way to ensure the condition of an aircraft is to visit it personally, or to request feedback from others who used it. Your charter broker should be able to introduce you to previous passenger through his network. Moreover, since insurance levels might change at any time and vary by aircraft within the same fleet, it is essential to request for a copy of the insurance policy before each and every flight.

Check up on your Pilot: Find out what the companies’ standards are for minimum pilot hours. Different jet types require different pilot hours and once you have chosen an aircraft, ensure that the assigned pilot has the required number of pilot hours on that type of aircraft. Generally, each pilot should have at least 3000 total flight hours and 300 hours in a specific aircraft type.

Inquire about the Pricing Scheme: Always inquire for a clear quote rather than a vague estimate that could create surprises on the final invoice.

Check up the Countries Regulation: Different countries have different regulations. Those set forth by the FAA are specific to the United States. Other Civil Aviation Authorities (CAAs) include:

v United Kingdom - United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority

v Australia - Civil Aviation Safety Authority

v United Nations - International Civil Aviation Organization

Another tip:

v Some aircrafts are restricted in terms of night landings and must comply to some kind of “curfew.” If you think that you might need to go on night flights, don’t forget to inquire about any related regulations during aircraft selection process.

v Always be certain that the charter company doesn’t try to fly under the less strict Part 91 (owner flown) regulations.

v Be cautious of outsourcing. There might be a possibility that a famous provider may place you on a small independent company’s jet, which not necessarily meet standard safety requirement.
